Estos bosques son tambi\u00e9n el hogar de cientos de comunidades locales, entre ellas varios pueblos ind\u00edgenas, muchos de los cuales mantienen una existencia semin\u00f3mada.<\/p>\n<p>Alrededor de tres cuartas partes de los bosques del pa\u00eds est\u00e1n asignados a concesiones madereras, una de las principales causas de la degradaci\u00f3n forestal que ha reportado pocos beneficios locales duraderos. La agroindustria, los proyectos petrol\u00edferos y el desarrollo de infraestructuras est\u00e1n aumentando la presi\u00f3n, sobre todo con varios permisos que se solapan con las turberas de la Cuvette Centrale, uno de los mayores sumideros de carbono del planeta. Por desgracia, los esfuerzos de conservaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de zonas estrictamente protegidas y proyectos de compensaci\u00f3n de carbono han aumentado a menudo la marginaci\u00f3n de los pueblos de los bosques.<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de estas dificultades, existen posibilidades legales de promover sus derechos a trav\u00e9s de una ley de pueblos ind\u00edgenas de 2011, la reciente legislaci\u00f3n forestal comunitaria y las reformas de la planificaci\u00f3n del uso de la tierra, aunque su aplicaci\u00f3n es lenta y se ve obstaculizada por la falta de espacio geogr\u00e1fico. Al igual que en otros pa\u00edses de la cuenca del Congo, los defensores del medio ambiente y de los derechos humanos se enfrentan a amenazas cada vez mayores y se ven obligados a actuar en un class=\"map_render map_loading\" id=\"map_7687\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>\n\t\tNuestros impactos\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<ul>\n<li>RFUK y nuestros socios locales desempe\u00f1aron un papel destacado en la aprobaci\u00f3n en 2011 de una ley hist\u00f3rica sobre los pueblos ind\u00edgenas en la Rep\u00fablica del Congo, la primera de este tipo en \u00c1frica.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Nuestro trabajo ha arrojado luz sobre los peligros de una planificaci\u00f3n deficiente. <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/es\/publicaciones\/palmed-off-an-investigation-into-three-industrial-palm-oil-and-rubber-projects-in-cameroon-and-the-republic-of-congo\/\">aceite de palma industrial<\/a> y <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/infrastructure-report.pdf\">desarrollo de infraestructuras<\/a> tanto el pa\u00eds como el <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.rainforestfoundationuk.org\/es\/publicaciones\/the-human-cost-of-conservation-in-republic-of-congo\/\">pr\u00e1cticas abusivas de conservaci\u00f3n<\/a> en sus zonas estrictamente protegidas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Desde 2019, nos hemos asociado con la organizaci\u00f3n local CJJ para apoyar a las comunidades a utilizar <a href=\"https:\/\/forestlink.org\/republic-of-congo\/\">ForestLink<\/a> para documentar y denunciar las actividades ilegales en sus tierras, as\u00ed como para exigir mejores indemnizaciones a las fortalezas\" de Occidente se basa en la peligrosa pero persistente idea de que hay que separar a la poblaci\u00f3n local de la naturaleza para mantenerla \"pr\u00edstina\" (a veces en beneficio de turistas extranjeros). Esto no s\u00f3lo provoca violaciones de los derechos humanos, sino que adem\u00e1s es ineficaz, ya que ignora y aliena a las mismas personas que han modelado y administrado esos paisajes durante
