Aujourd'hui, nous lan\u00e7ons un syst\u00e8me technologiquement innovant qui donne aux populations foresti\u00e8res la possibilit\u00e9 d'envoyer des rapports quasi-instantan\u00e9s et g\u00e9ographiquement tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis sur l'abattage ill\u00e9gal d'arbres, par exemple par des entreprises de bois ou d'huile de palme, depuis n'importe quel endroit du monde, m\u00eame l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il n'y a pas de connexion mobile, de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone ou d'internet.<\/p>\n

Les informations sur les activit\u00e9s ill\u00e9gales dans les for\u00eats peuvent d\u00e9sormais \u00eatre collect\u00e9es \u00e0 l'aide d'un ordinateur tablette ou d'un smartphone, puis transmises \u00e0 une carte en ligne via un \u00e9metteur modem satellite en seulement 20 secondes, pour un co\u00fbt \u00e9quivalent \u00e0 celui d'un message texte standard. Les rapports d'incidents en direct indiquent les endroits o\u00f9 une action urgente est n\u00e9cessaire pour emp\u00eacher la d\u00e9forestation.<\/p>\n

En collaboration avec notre partenaire local, For\u00eats et D\u00e9veloppement Rural (FODER), notre syst\u00e8me a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9 dans les for\u00eats tropicales du Cameroun, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant 20 cas potentiels d'exploitation foresti\u00e8re ill\u00e9gale.<\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de signalement des incidents bas\u00e9 sur des ic\u00f4nes facilement modifiables, la technologie peut potentiellement \u00eatre adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents types de surveillance des for\u00eats, notamment les populations d'animaux sauvages, le braconnage, les violations des droits de l'homme ou la mise en \u0153uvre de m\u00e9canismes de paiement du carbone tels que le REDD.<\/p>\n
