L'\u00e9quipe d'Angleterre participant \u00e0 la Coupe du monde a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9e \u00e0 disputer un match de football par l'un des peuples amazoniens les plus grands et les plus f\u00e9roces du Br\u00e9sil, les Kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Dans une lettre adress\u00e9e aujourd'hui au s\u00e9lectionneur de l'\u00e9quipe d'Angleterre, Roy Hodgson, le chef Raoni Metuktire et le chef Megaron Txucarramae ont invit\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipe sur leur territoire de la for\u00eat tropicale \"apr\u00e8s avoir jou\u00e9 la finale contre le Br\u00e9sil\".<\/p>\n

\"Nous sommes tous de grands fans de football et nous mettons l'Angleterre au d\u00e9fi de jouer contre l'\u00e9quipe nationale des Kayap\u00f3\", a \u00e9crit le chef Megaron.<\/p>\n

\"Nous vivons au bord du fleuve Xingu, dans la partie orientale de la for\u00eat amazonienne. Notre village est tr\u00e8s traditionnel et nous vivons encore comme nos anc\u00eatres, ce serait donc une excellente occasion pour vous de voir comment nous vivons\".<\/p>\n

Les chefs ont joint \u00e0 leur lettre une photographie de certains membres de l'\u00e9quipe nationale kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Les deux chefs se rendront au Royaume-Uni du 9 au 11 juin afin d'alerter la population britannique sur la destruction continue de la for\u00eat amazonienne. Leur visite comprendra une r\u00e9union avec SAR le Prince Charles et des membres du Parlement.<\/p>\n

La Rainforest Foundation UK a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e il y a 25 ans, en 1989, par Sting et Trudie Styler, apr\u00e8s avoir constat\u00e9 de visu l'impact de la destruction de la for\u00eat amazonienne sur le mode de vie des Indiens Kayap\u00f3.<\/p>\n

C'est ainsi qu'est n\u00e9e la premi\u00e8re campagne de la Fondation qui, en 1993, a abouti \u00e0 la protection de 27 359 km\u00b2 de terres appartenant \u00e0 des peuples indig\u00e8nes. \u00c0 ce jour, la Fondation a travaill\u00e9 dans plus de 20 pays et s'est donn\u00e9 pour mission de \"soutenir les peuples indig\u00e8nes et les populations traditionnelles des for\u00eats tropicales du monde entier afin qu'ils prot\u00e8gent leur habitat dans les for\u00eats tropicales et qu'ils exercent leurs droits \u00e0 la terre, \u00e0 la vie et aux moyens de subsistance\".<\/p>\n\t
